Finally, a somewhat clear day. Clarity wasn't great, and it's been so long that I was all thumbs. Not the greatest Orion photo ever, but my best. Clicking takes you to a somewhat larger image. And yes, there is a satellite that goes right through the image.
So this was taken through a portable telescope?
ReplyDeleteVery cool!
I don't see the satellite, though.
sally,

Yes, a 5" refractor.

The image above is linked to a larger image. The track of the satellite runs from the top of the red portion of the nebula, to the upper right at about a 45 degree angle.
What? No photos of Venus's solar transit?
ReplyDeleteMaybe one needs a different kind of telescope to look at the sun.
Clear days have tended to coincide with committee meetings. The transit coincided with church council, and since I'm the president, I couldn't beg off. I can use the scope I have for solar imaging, but I'd need some special filters. A separate solar scope might be more cost-effective :-/.
ReplyDeleteah the joys of responsibility ...
ReplyDeleteActually, it is a joy right now. There are a lot of good things happening. We have great Pastoral leadership, and a clear (and mostly shared) vision of what we're called to be.
